[6] Camille Serme (Fra) 2-1 [1] Nour El Sherbini (Egy) 10-12, 11-3, 11-6 (34m)
A bit of a strange match today. A very strong performance from the French number one against The Princess today. With a very balanced first game, 4/4, 8/8, game ball Nour, 10/10 and finally 12/10 in 12m.
But from that moment on, it was like Nour was just not on court mentally. She was not really fighting as hard as she normally does, and the French Panthère took full advantage, 8/1, 10/2, 11-3 in 8m, and dominating the third beautifully as well, scoring 7 points in a row from 2/5 to 9/5, again with Nour not keeping the rallies going, and allowing Camille to send her visit the four corners, very a-typical, 11/6.
It was a great delight for the French camp – literally as Philippe Signoret, Cam, Enora Villard, Melissa Alves and Marie Stephan were training at the Black Ball Club just before the event.
Camille :
“I am very happy with my game tonight. It has been a while since I had a good win so I will take that one, especially against the World No.1. I was enjoying my game and really focused on what to do on court and that was really important,” Serme explained.
“She can hit many winners as well, but today was more errors and I will take that! This tournament is never easy anyway. It is a bonus and I am just happy to be enjoying my squash again.”
