The season-ending CIB PSA World Tour Finals gets underway today, with six pool matches taking place in Cairo this evening.
As always, the tournament is different to the norm on Tour. The event starts with two pool stages, featuring four players in each, with a round-robin format played in best-of-three matches. The top two players from each group will then advance, before the semi-finals and finals take place at the weekend.
World No.1s Nouran Gohar and Ali Farag will book-end the day’s play, with ‘The Terminator’ taking to the glass court first this evening, when play starts at 19:30 (GMT +3). She will take on Belgium’s Nele Gilis, who is making her debut at the CIB PSA World Tour Finals.
Meanwhile, Farag will have to wait until 22:30 (GMT +3) for his opening match of the competition, when he faces New Zealand’s Paul Coll. Defending champion Mostafa Asal will face rival Victor Crouin in tonight’s action, while top seed Diego Elias does battle with Egypt’s Mazen Hesham in the other men’s match.
Nour El Sherbin, the defending CIB PSA World Tour Finals champion, takes on compatriot Nour El Tayeb, while World No.3 Hania El Hammamy faces debutant Olivia Fiechter in the third women’s match.
You can catch all of the action live on SQUASHTV from 19:30 (GMT +3), but if you are unable to watch, you can also keep up to date with live scores from Cairo here.
