England’s Georgina Kennedy has become the latest player to qualify for the season ending Xbox PSA World Tour Finals after her win at the Manchester Open silver event over the weekend. Kennedy was already firmly placed in the top eight but has now moved ahead of Belgium’s Nele Gilis to fifth position, guaranteeing herself a ticket to Bellevue.
Manchester Open runner-up Nour El Tayeb is still in eighth position, just less than 200 points ahead of compatriot Rowan Elaraby but will need to wait until the British Open to confirm her place.
In the men’s standings, QSF 3 champion Tarek Momen has moved ahead of England’s Mohamed Elshorbagy after his Bronze event win. Momen defeated Malaysia’s Eain Yow Ng in the final and has now all but confirmed his place in the World Tour Finals as well as Mazen Hesham.
Manchester Open men’s champion Joel Makin has risen above Marwan Elshorbagy into ninth position but still sits over 150 points away from Marwan’s brother Mohamed, who occupies the final qualifying spot in the leaderboard.
The British Open is the last event this season where players can pick up World Tour Finals points. The event gets underway on the 2nd June with the finals taking place on the 9th. All the action will be streamed live on SQUASHTV.
