Who Will Reach the Semi-Finals of the SmartCentres PSA Squash Tour Finals?

We’ve reached day three at the SmartCentres PSA Squash Tour Finals 24/25 with the group stages coming to an end in Toronto with the players looking to reach the semi-finals of the season-ending event.

In the men’s event, three of the four semi-final spots have been confirmed with Mostafa Asal guaranteed to win Group A and due to the withdrawal of Coll and Mohamed Elshorbagy, Diego Elias and Karim Gawad are the players progressing from Group B. The final spot in Group A will be decided by a mouth-watering clash between No.4 seed Joel Makin and No.5 seed Marwan ElShorbagy.

Karim Gawad is now guaranteed to face Mostafa Asal in one of the men’s semi-finals whilst Diego Elias will play the winner of Makin and Elshorbagy in the other.

Tonights women’s matches also hold importance in both groups with all four players capable of qualification in Group B whilst the winner of Group A needs to be decided.

Nouran Gohar and Georgina Kennedy both have two wins to their names in Group A and their showdown tonight will decide who will go through in first place to play the runner up of Group B.

Group B is more complicated as all four players – Olivia Weaver, Satomi Watanabe, Sivasangari Subramaniam and Fayrouz Aboelkheir – can still qualify depending on tonight’s results. Weaver has two wins in the group and will book her place in the semi-finals if the following scenarios take place in her match with Aboelkheir tonight:

She wins OR She loses 2-1 OR she loses 2-0 and Subramaniam beats Watanabe.

Satomi Watanabe currently sits second in the group and can qualify if these scenarios happen tonight in her match with Sivasangari Subramaniam:

She wins 2-0 OR Weaver beats Aboelkheir.

Fayrouz Aboelkheir can also qualify if:

She wins 2-0 OR She wins 2-1 and Subramaniam beats Watanabe.

Subramaniam qualifies if:

She wins 2-0 and Weaver beats Aboelkheir 2-0.
