World Champion Diego Elias and England’s Mohamed ElShorbagy have pulled out of today’s matches at the Xbox PSA World Tour Finals due to injury.
Elias’s withdrawal due to a hip problem means that Hesham is awarded a 2-0 win and he moves up to second in Group B of the men’s event, one point behind New Zealand’s Paul Coll.
That means Tarek Momen must now beat Coll if he is to qualify for the semi-finals ahead of Hesham.
Meanwhile, ElShorbagy’s withdrawal due to an adductor issue means Farag ends the group stage at the summit of Group A with the maximum 12 points on offer. Mostafa Asal and Karim Abdel Gawad will face off later today for the opportunity to join Farag in the semis.
