R3: Tarek “sauve l’honneur” against Marwan

[2] Tarek Momen (EGY) 2-0 [5] Marwan ElShorbagy (EGY)  11-8, 11-3 (14m)

Tarek can leave the Mall of Arabia “la tête haute”, his head high, after his clear victory against Marwan who we all see was not giving his best, having qualified for the semis already, and keeping his forces for tomorrow against Ali, for the revenge of Manchester…

Tarek was relaxed tonight, no pressure, and it was nice to see him happy to be on court, fluid and stringing lovely volley drop shots nicks….

See you in a few days at the Pyramids Habibi…

“To be honest I haven’t been feeling like I’ve been enjoying myself on court for a while,”

“I thought I was getting excited when a date was set and we were going to Manchester, but then when I played my first match over there, I realised that I’m still not in a good place mentally. It’s been a tough period for me, and I’ve been trying so hard in every match to pump myself up whenever I got the chance to lift my spirits up and try to get back to how I was and how I used to enjoy myself on court. It’s not always that easy, but I’m trying hard to play some matches and get back to how I used to be and hopefully by next week in the Pyramids I can put on a good show.

“It’s tough, seeing my family over there but I can’t make any contact with them, but still seeing them is better than nothing and hopefully they can be there at the Pyramids next week and I can play better.”
