Egypt’s reigning World Champion Tarek Momen ensured he finished his time at the CIB PSA World Tour Finals with a win after he defeated the already-qualified Marwan ElShorbagy in straight games.
There was nothing to play for in this match, with Momen unable to qualify due to losses to Wales’ Joel Makin and New Zealand’s Paul Coll earlier in the week, while ElShorbagy had already ensured he topped Group B with two impressive victories this week.
Momen started strongly and was able to power to the finish line with ElShorbagy not looking on his metal as the World No.4 took a comfortable 11-8, 11-3 victory in just 14 minutes.
ElShorbagy will face Ali Farag in tomorrow’s semi-final after he finished second in Group A.

“To be honest I haven’t been feeling like I’ve been enjoying myself on court for a while,” admitted Momen after his victory.
“I thought I was getting excited when a date was set and we were going to Manchester, but then when I played my first match over there, I realised that I’m still not in a good place mentally.
“It’s been a tough period for me, and I’ve been trying so hard in every match to pump myself up whenever I got the chance to lift my spirits up and try to get back to how I was and how I used to enjoy myself on court. It’s not always that easy, but I’m trying hard to play some matches and get back to how I used to be and hopefully by next week in the Pyramids I can put on a good show.
“It’s tough, seeing my family over there but I can’t make any contact with them, but still seeing them is better than nothing and hopefully they can be there at the Pyramids next week and I can play better.”
